Interesting. I still think it’s a bit funny that Toyota sold the Cavalier as a captive import in Japan, but they were mostly sedan models. Additionally, they were all sold with Pontiac Sunfire wheels with Toyota center caps, they had different (and better looking tail lights), and all of them had only the 2.4L LD9 motor apart from the first year run which had the 2.4 Quad4 engine.

Honestly, just how deep is the JGTC grid back then? There almost always seemed to be more of these that just pop in and out sometimes.

About Toyota captive import badging. On the Voltz (nee Pontiac Vibe) they just basically made a letter V out of the Pontiac badge and called it a day. Probably in order to use the least amount of effort to localize it.
